Telecom Auditing Needed?

Wireless bills continue to cause confusion and angst among many constituents.  If it were not enough that many bills are confusing, there is a major focus now on the regulatory charges for various mandated services such as emergency wireless calling.  Critics argue that a national solution is required, as many governing bodies do not require regulation.  Some critics argue that these fees should be built into the overall rates (rather than being separate) so as to allow for accurate comparison among mobile operator rates.

Meanwhile, many of these fees on wireless bills are being collected but not immediately benefiting the end-users due to the emergency services infrastructure not yet being built out at the public safety answer points.

Class action lawsuits may occur for the general populous over these issues.  While the general population can not do much about these issues other than to vote for who will support them, there is something that enterprise users can do to lower their wireless bills.

Telecommunications is a large portion of any enterprise expense budget.  It is a well known fact that there is a huge amount of wasted money due to suboptimal telecom cost management, which could easily be prevented through various techniques including telecom bill auditing, inventory management, and usage/rate optimization.

Some companies offer services to audit wireless bills for inaccuracies and/or to obtain the best rates.  While the savings on a per-user basis may sometimes not be much, the aggregate savings can be in the millions for large customers.
